About us

CGP is allied with the Citizens Constitutional Caucus

At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on September 18, 1787, a Mrs. Powel anxiously awaited the results.  As Dr. Benjamin Franklin emerged from the long task now finished, she asked him directly, “Well Doctor, what have we got -- a republic or a monarchy?”

“A republic if you can keep it” responded Franklin.  Franklin’s words were quite telling. He could have simply said, “A republic,” but he added the five words, “if you can keep it.”

CGP & The Citizens Constitutional Caucus were formed to answer Dr. Franklin’s question.  The political reality Americans face today is simply a choice between being subjects or citizens.

Voting is important.  However, voting only is not sufficient to “keep the Republic.”  We, the people, must be directly involved in the political process.  The greatest threat to the Republic is not politicians -- it is the person in the mirror.

The Citizens Constitutional Caucus is not just another Constitutional organization.  We have a very narrow focus.  We’re not going to look at a proposed bill or resolution and decide if it’s good fiscal policy, if it will it help the children, or if it is moral or immoral.

Our only question will be: Is it Constitutional?

And we’ll expose and oppose any and all legislation that is not constitutional.

The Patriot Institute supports and is aligned with the Citizens Constitutional Caucus for the purpose of preparing educational materials and events.

The Advisory Council will decide on what action, if any, to take on each recommendation.  Approved recommendations will then be presented as suggested legislative action to the “Servants,” legislators and political leaders the caucus has identified as Constitutionalist.

We envision a national network of such groups composed of citizens with a working knowledge of America’s founding documents and the meaning and responsibility of an oath.

We hope the Citizens Constitutional Caucus will serve as a model for the organization of similar caucuses from Manteo to Murphy, and from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
